Year 4 Science | Sound | Lesson 5: What is Volume?
What makes a sound loud or quiet? In this Year 4 science lesson from our Sound unit, pupils explore the concept of volume and how it relates to the strength of vibrations. Children investigate how different factors affect how loud or soft a sound is and begin to use scientific vocabulary to explain their observations.
This lesson supports enquiry-based learning through hands-on activities and guided discussion. Pupils are encouraged to ask questions, make predictions and draw conclusions, building on their prior understanding of sound, pitch and vibration.
