Year 4 Science | Sound | Lesson 1: How is Sound Made Through Vibrations?
What is sound, and where does it come from? In this first lesson of the Year 4 Sound unit, pupils explore how sounds are created by vibrations. Through hands-on investigation and discussion, children begin to understand that sound is a form of energy that travels through the air to our ears.
Part of our Scintillating Science programme, this lesson introduces key concepts in a clear, engaging way, setting the foundation for future learning about pitch, volume and how we hear. Pupils are encouraged to observe, ask questions, and use scientific vocabulary to describe what they discover.
