Scintillating Science is an engaging science scheme of work that ensures coverage of substantive and disciplinary knowledge. Designed with the latest guidance from the Ofsted science subject report in mind, our primary science scheme provides a carefully sequenced, easy-to-follow approach to science teaching.

Science Scheme | Reception | Block 2: Exploring Materials | Lesson 3: Performing Simple Tests and Using Equipment is the third lesson in block 2 for Reception. The blocks are designed to be taught in order, but can be re-ordered according to your own school curriculum.

Lesson 6: Making Simple Records and Talking About Observations

Two further skills are taught throughout the lessons:

• Talking about what I have done and noticed

• Sorting and matching things
