2021 DfE Reading Framework Supporting Resources
Encourage children to build their vocabulary using our Chatterbox Activity to Support the Delivery of the 2021 Reading Framework. The idea behind a Chatterbox is to have a box with a selection of objects in so that you can pull out an object to prompt a discussion or develop vocabulary by describing it.
How to play
– Create a Chatterbox by sticking one of the labels onto a box (a small cardboard box is perfect for this).
– Place a selection of interesting objects inside the box.
– During circle or small group time pull one of the objects out to prompt a discussion, ask questions about it or develop vocabulary by describing it.
The Reading Framework guidance is for primary schools, initial teacher training (ITT) partnerships, specialist provision and others in England. It focuses on the early stages of teaching reading. Its key objective is to help schools meet their expectations around early reading as set out in the national curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework. It also aligns with Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework.
This activity comes in a zip pack and contains both a colour and black/white version.
Also brilliant for SEND and EAL.
