Get ready to bring science to life with our Year 4 Science Scheme of Work, part of the Scintillating Science programme. Designed to align with the KS2 science curriculum, this scheme helps pupils develop essential scientific knowledge and enquiry skills through hands-on investigations and interactive resources.
From exploring solids, liquids, and gases to investigating sound, electricity, and living things, our Year 4 science lessons support progression, critical thinking, and engagement across the year. Whether you’re teaching a new concept or revisiting key ideas, our resources are designed to support teachers and spark curiosity in every child.
Our comprehensive scheme will include:
The first topic in our Year 4 scheme is States of Matter, where pupils explore the properties of solids, liquids, and gases. Through engaging experiments and simple observations, children will compare materials, investigate changes of state, and learn how temperature affects matter. Key vocabulary such as condensation, evaporation, and melting will be introduced and reinforced throughout the unit.
The full scheme will cover all Year 4 National Curriculum topics, including:
Each unit is designed to develop working scientifically skills alongside subject knowledge, with activities that promote questioning, observation, data collection, and explanation.
All lessons will include differentiated activities using our three-star system, helping you meet the needs of all learners. Resources are clear, accessible, and visually engaging, with interactive elements that support pupil understanding and classroom discussion.
Our Year 4 Science Scheme of Work is currently in development, with States of Matter coming soon as the first unit. Sign up for our newsletter or start a free trial to get notified when new resources are released.
Deliver high-quality science lessons with confidence using our Year 4 Science Scheme of Work. Easy to use, enjoyable to teach, and designed to help pupils make real progress in science.
