The KS1 Maths National Curriculum is designed to provide a structured and progressive approach to mathematics education. It covers various strands of mathematics, including number, measurement, geometry, statistics, and algebra (to a basic extent). The curriculum aims to develop children’s mathematical fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.

Key components of the KS1 Maths National Curriculum include:

1. Number and Place Value:
   • Understanding and representing numbers up to 100.
   • Counting forwards and backward within 100.
   • Recognising and representing numbers using objects, pictures, and numbers.
2. Addition and Subtraction:
   • Adding and subtracting one- and two-digit numbers.
   • Solving simple problems involving addition and subtraction.
3. Multiplication and Division:
   • Understanding the concept of multiplication and division.
   • Using arrays, grouping, and repeated addition to solve multiplication problems.
   • Introducing the concept of multiplication as repeated addition.
4. Fractions:
   • Recognising and finding halves and quarters of shapes and objects.
